Welcome to Week 6 Blog
26 May 2021
This week we learned more about Sustainable Design and mainly falls under 2 categories, the Product Life Cycle and Cradle to Cradle Design (C2C). Let us start with the Product Life Cycle.
Product Life Cycle:
It consists of 6 stages which include:
- Raw Materials
- Manufacturing
- Packaging
- Distribution
- Use
- Disposal

After producing the Product Life Cycle, the team was tasked once again to bring it to the next step which is Cradle to Cradle (C2C). By doing C2C on the product we were able to identify some resources that would go to waste if not used otherwise, thus we developed a plan for other usages of these excess resources. Shown below is what the team has done for C2C:

Reflection:
By carrying out this week's activity on Sustainable Design, the team was able to broaden its perspective regarding this area and what are some strategies that are used when considering for a Sustainable design, such as the Product Life Cycle and the Cradle to Cradle strategies which were helpful in identifying the possible usages of the by-products produced when producing the materials used for our Egg Maker.
