Week 14

Welcome to Week 14 Blog

19 July 2021

After learning about operating principles and mechanisms it was time to learn how to plan through Product Sketches and Specifications.

Sketching or drawing allowed us to better visualize the look of the final product and provide visual clues for possible refinements and revisions of the product.

During the lecture, we were tasked to sketch lines, curves, circles, and ellipses as a warm-up then moving on to one-point and two-point perspective sketches.

After this, we moved on to design specifications as the specification is a set of documented requirements to be satisfied by material, design, product, or service. It is a common preliminary part of any engineering design and product development process

After the lecture, we then were tasked to come up with One and Two Point Sketches and a Design Specifications Table for our group's egg cooker. It was somewhat challenging but after a few revisions, we managed to come up with suitable specifications for our egg cooker.

This session taught us the benefits of sketching and planning specifications to better improve our product and also a chance to improve our artistic skills.
